Growing number of Dems like Trump’s shake-it-up political approach

A recent survey conducted by Harvard CAPS/Harris indicates that there is a growing number of self-described Democrats who support former President Donald Trump’s disruptive political style.

The pollsters March survey found that 33% of Democrats believe Trump will shake up the country for the better, reflecting a three-point increase from February and a five-point rise from January.

Meanwhile, the number of Democrats who view Trump as “a danger to democracy” has dropped from 72% in January to 67% in March.

This trend raises questions about recent polls that have signaled good news for President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign.

However, several polls since the beginning of the year have shown Trump ahead of or tied with Biden in most swing states.

With inflation and high consumer prices posing challenges to the current administration, trust in Trump’s economic management appears to be growing among voters, as highlighted by a Financial Times-Michigan Ross poll that found Trump is trusted more on the economy than Biden by 8 points.

A notable political analyst, Hugh Hewitt, has compared the current standings between Trump and Biden in the polls to a famous horse race, suggesting that Trump is pulling away from his opponent.

Further surveys have revealed that Trump’s lead over President Joe Biden has nearly doubled, with some speculating that this could indicate a decisive victory for Trump in November.

Despite the challenges faced by the current administration, it remains to be seen how these trends will develop as we approach the 2024 elections.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the support of self-described Democrats for Trump’s disruptive style could have a significant impact on future election outcomes.
