Unpredictable Race: Kornacki Uncovers Shift in Kamala-Trump Polls

NBC News poll analyst Steve Kornacki has recently delved into the fascinating race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. In a recent interview with NBC Today host Savannah Guthrie, Kornacki shared insights on how Vice President Kamala Harris lost her commanding five-point lead over the former president in the competition.

Just one month ago, similar polling suggested that Kamala Harris was not only ahead of Trump but also had a more favorable rating. Those leads have been wiped out almost entirely. When asked about this shift, Kornacki pointed to last month’s poll showing Harris leading Trump 48 percent to 44 percent versus the current poll where she is ahead 49 percent to 48 percent.

Additionally, Kamala’s favorability rating has dropped while her negative rating has risen. Last month, Harris had a 48 percent positive rating and a 45 percent negative rating. However, this time around, the figures have changed significantly – with her positive rating at 43 percent and a negative one at 49 percent.

Kornacki emphasized that these changes are significant considering how close the race is. He added that they also asked people whether Trump’s policies had helped or hurt their families during his presidency. The results were quite interesting, with 44% of respondents stating that his policies helped, and only 31% claiming they harmed them.

This retrospective opinion on Trump’s presidency among voters appears to be higher now than when he was in office, which is a significant twist in the narrative. As Kamala’s favorability rating continues to decline and her negative rating rises, it becomes increasingly important for her campaign to reconnect with voters and shift the public perception back in her favor.
