Homeowner’s Crossbow Standoff Thwarts Intruders in Monroe County

A homeowner in Monroe County, Michigan defended their property using a crossbow against two alleged intruders just after midnight on Tuesday. WLNS reported that the resident fired at one of the suspects, prompting both to flee the scene hastily. The injured individual, identified only as a 32-year-old man from Newport, was admitted into the hospital for surgical removal of the arrow lodged in his body. He was subsequently taken into police custody during his recovery period.

FOX 2 Detroit reported that the second alleged intruder, a 41-year-old Newport resident, was discovered near the crime scene and arrested shortly after. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office suspects the incident may have stemmed from a “previous fight” between the assailants and the homeowner.

This event highlights the importance of individuals having the ability to defend themselves and their property. The homeowner, using a crossbow, demonstrated that they were able to protect themselves and deter potential criminals. As a result, both alleged intruders were apprehended, underscoring the significance of maintaining one’s personal safety in the face of potential threats.
