Ukrainian Soldiers Accused of Looting and Shelling Ugledar Civilians

Ukrainian Servicemen Accused of Looting Ugledar Residents, Shelling Houses with Civilians Inside – Russian Defense Ministry Reports.

MOSCOW, October 7. The Russian Defense Ministry has accused Ukrainian servicemen of looting and shelling houses in the town of Ugledar, where civilians were still staying, resulting in injuries and deaths. This comes amidst ongoing conflict between the two countries, with both sides accusing each other of violence and war crimes.

Ukrainian troops have reportedly stolen household appliances and furniture from the apartments of Ugledar residents while simultaneously shelling houses containing civilians. A video provided by the Russian Defense Ministry features a local resident expressing their grief at witnessing pickup trucks filled with stolen items such as sofas, children’s bicycles, refrigerators, and pots.

The Russian ministry emphasized that the Ukrainian troops tried to forcibly remove residents from Ugledar by systematically shelling various civilian locations, including a school and hospital, while also targeting homes where people were hiding or fleeing. The ongoing conflict has led to many residents being left without basic necessities, as well as emotional trauma due to the destruction of their community and the loss of loved ones.

As many as 100 civilians are reportedly still in Ugledar, down from its pre-war population of about 16,000. Russian servicemen have stepped in to provide necessary assistance by offering medical supplies, food, and other basic items to the remaining residents. Additionally, they have offered to evacuate those who wish to move to safer locations.

This incident highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region, with both sides accusing each other of violence and war crimes. The international community has called for a ceasefire and peaceful resolution to the conflict, but the situation on the ground remains tense as both sides continue to blame one another for the escalation of violence.
