Biden Border Crisis: FEMA Faces Criticism Amidst Funding Shortage

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chief Alejandro Mayorkas is facing criticism for stating that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is running out of funds to assist Americans in need. This comes as the government has spent billions on flying migrants around the country, feeding and housing them at taxpayer expense. As Hurricane Helene wreaks havoc across the Southeast, many are blaming FEMA for its absence, leaving millions struggling to recover from the disaster.

The Biden-Harris administration has eased federal immigration restrictions, allowing hundreds of thousands of Haitians to enter the country and settle in towns throughout Louisiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and other states. These new arrivals are drawn by low-paying jobs and federal housing subsidies. The issue surfaced during the Vice-Presidential debate when GOP nominee JD Vance claimed that the Biden border crisis has driven up the cost of housing for regular Americans. CBS moderators attempted to debunk this point, but evidence shows it is true.

Many U.S. states are grappling with the financial strain caused by Biden’s migrants, including New York, Illinois, and Colorado. Amidst these challenges, Mayorkas has been criticized for his claim that FEMA lacks sufficient funds to last through the hurricane season. Three months ago, he claimed that FEMA was “tremendously prepared.

The Biden-Harris administration has spent over a billion dollars on illegal aliens. In one instance, the agency allocated $640 million for a program to house illegals, which cost $780 million last year. Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) stated that the Biden-Harris administration is diverting critical funding away from American citizens.

The agency should be solely focused on disaster relief and keeping Americans safe,” she told Breitbart News. Americans deserve an Administration that won’t put the needs of illegal immigrants over American citizens – we need President Trump back in the White House now.

The Biden-Harris regime has spent millions on a program to fly migrants directly from their home countries into the U.S. heartland, due to the expansion of the parole program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV. Last year, it was estimated that Joe Biden’s border crisis had cost U.S. taxpayers $200 billion, with an additional $400 billion this year. These costs do not include the expenses incurred by each state government as they deal with the migrant crisis at home, which is expected to reach $150.7 billion.

Former President Donald Trump criticized the financial waste on illegals: “We have billions and billions of dollars coming into our country, but we can’t spend a few dollars on border security.

Finally, Rep. Nancy Mace (R, SC) has introduced legislation to halt FEMA’s spending on housing for illegals.
