Ford’s Powerful Pledge: Free Home Chargers for New EV Buyers

In an effort to increase the sales of electric vehicles (EVs), Ford Motor Company is offering free at-home charging stations for customers who purchase or lease a new EV, according to announcements made by company executives this week. Ford CEO Jim Farley explained on X that many potential buyers are hesitant about purchasing an EV because they cannot easily charge the vehicle at home. In response, Ford is launching its “Ford Power Promise” initiative, which aims to provide convenience, peace of mind, and expert service to electric vehicle customers.

During the fourth quarter, those who buy or lease a Ford EV will receive a complimentary home charger and installation as part of this initiative. If successful, Farley stated that the offer could be extended into the next year. This move comes at a time when US automakers are struggling to persuade Americans to invest in EVs, despite significant financial support from President Joe Biden’s administration.

According to recent data, Ford has experienced a slight increase in EV sales compared to the previous quarter. However, EVs still account for only 8 percent of all car sales across the US market between January and June. Farley recently expressed concern about the potential impact of cheap Chinese EVs entering the US market, calling it “the biggest threat” to Ford and its employees.

This new initiative by Ford demonstrates a commitment to making electric vehicles more accessible and user-friendly for American consumers. As automakers continue to invest in the development and production of EVs, initiatives like the Ford Power Promise will be crucial in convincing buyers that electric vehicles are a viable and convenient option for transportation.
