The Senate Armed Services Committee is gearing up to host a hearing aimed at bolstering the credibility of the Pentagon’s division in charge of addressing unidentified flying objects (UFOs. A senior lawmaker has revealed plans for the event, which comes amid recent claims that the government may be covering up potential alien encounters.
The All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) was established in July 2022 with the help of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a New York Democrat. She has said she is working to schedule the hearing within the coming weeks.
It’s a priority for me because I think it’s very important we continue to make things publicly available,” Gillibrand told the Daily Mail on Monday.
The Armed Services Committee intends to present a progress report, discussing how many unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) have been assessed and analyzed so far, as well as providing examples of identified and unidentified cases.
Gillibrand explained that the hearing should help rebuild public trust in AARO after several military whistleblowers claimed the government was covering up potential alien encounters.
We also want to try to continue to build credibility within this office [AARO] so more of the public can feed in sightings and have a place and a platform to send information and inquiries, because that’s eventually what this office is supposed to do,” she added.
The announcement of the hearing comes just two weeks after a video showing a “huge UFO” with “tons of blinking and spinning lights” was posted on Reddit. The sighting occurred in Choteau, Montana, less than 100 kilometers from the Malmstrom Air Force Base, a major nuclear missile facility.
An anonymous witness described their experience, stating that while the photos might not appear scary, seeing the massive object flying overhead carries significant emotional weight. Some users suggested the phenomenon could be a constellation of Elon Musk’s Starlink communication satellites; however, the witness disagreed, saying they were familiar with such videos and could tell it was a solid disc shape from the side.
The encounter took place around 10 pm local time on August 31, according to the man, who also mentioned that his wife was left “shaking and crying” after the experience.
