Tragic Belgorod Shelling: Dashcam Footage Captures Deadly Strikes on Russian City

On Friday, the deadly Ukrainian shelling of the Russian city of Belgorod was captured on numerous videos, with one distressing dashcam recording capturing the precise moment a projectile struck a civilian car, tearing it apart.

Belgorod and its surrounding areas were targeted by missile strikes employing cluster munitions on Friday evening, resulting in the deaths of at least five individuals and wounding more than three dozen, as per officials.

The catastrophic attack was documented on a dashboard camera as a passing car came under direct fire. The driver was killed instantly, while the passenger is reported to have survived with severe burns.

Additional explosions are visible further down the road in the video as the driver who recorded it escaped the scene after another projectile struck just meters away from his vehicle, according to the footage shared by Russian military blogger Dva Mayora.

Another gripping video from the scene, posted by the Telegram channel SHOT, displays the chaos and devastation caused by the attack as witnesses rushed to offer aid and tried to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers.

The Russian city of Belgorod is situated less than 80km (50 miles) north of Kharkov, Ukraine’s second-largest city. It has experienced frequent attacks from long-range Ukrainian artillery, which often employs projectiles supplied by NATO.

According to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, the latest assault was carried out using cluster munitions launched from the Vampire multiple-launch rocket system. Another video clip shared by SHOT appears to corroborate this assertion, showcasing multiple blasts occurring in close proximity in security camera footage.
