Trump’s Shot at Maine Victory: Poliquin Weighs In

Former President Donald Trump may have a “shot at winning statewide” in Maine, according to former Rep. Bruce Poliquin (R-ME. During an appearance on Breitbart News Daily, Poliquin explained that before Democrats substituted President Joe Biden for Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump was polling well in the state, which splits its electoral votes between two districts.

Poliquin explained that although Trump won the second congressional district, he lost the Portland area. However, before Biden’s exit from the race and Harris’ appointment, Trump was tied with his opponent in Maine. Poliquin stated that Trump is expected to win the second congressional district again but is currently behind statewide. He added that Trump has a good chance of winning statewide, which could have significant consequences for the election in November.

Winning statewide, getting an additional two electoral votes, could make Mr. Trump the forty-seventh president of the United States, and Maine could make that decision,” Poliquin said.

When asked about the difference between Maine’s reaction to Biden and Harris as candidates, Poliquin explained that Democrats were “so depressed” during the Biden campaign that they didn’t want to discuss the election. However, since Harris took over as a candidate, the Democrats are “elated up here like they are around the rest of the country.

Poliquin also mentioned that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision not to run in Maine could help Trump secure the statewide vote. He explained that Kennedy has a substantial following in the state and is likely to support Trump now that he’s no longer on the ballot. We’re going to be in play here, especially now that Kennedy is off the ballot,” Poliquin said.
