Lawyers: Diddy’s Apology ‘Pathetic’, Self-Serving

The legal representatives representing Sean “Diddy” Combs’ accuser, Cassie Ventura, have criticised the rapper’s recent apology for his past actions towards Ventura as “pathetic.

This comes after footage was released last week showing Combs violently assaulting her back in 2016.

Meredith Firetog, a partner at Wigdor LLP – the firm representing Ventura, stated that Combs’ most recent apology seemed more focused on himself than the multiple people he has hurt over time.

She highlighted how the rapper initially denied all accusations and even suggested that his victims were simply seeking financial gains.

Firetog noted in a statement posted online that it wasn’t until Combs’ repeated denials were proven false, that he felt compelled to apologise, further emphasising his desperation and insincerity.

The disturbing surveillance footage released by CNN showed Combs physically assaulting Ventura – his girlfriend at the time – in a hotel, kicking her, dragging her down a hallway, and throwing items at her.

Combs later posted a video on Instagram in which he took “full responsibility” for his actions, admitting to being at “rock bottom” when the footage was filmed.

He also mentioned attending therapy sessions to become a better person and expressed his disgust towards himself during that period of time.

Despite settling a lawsuit filed by Ventura in November 2023 alleging years of physical violence and sexual abuse, Combs has continued to deny the accusations, including those involving the 2016 hotel assault.

In her filing, Ventura described how she was wearing a hooded sweatshirt seen in the video to hide a black eye sustained from being punched in the face by Combs as she fled the hotel.

Combs has faced five other lawsuits since Ventura’s allegations were made public, with claims ranging from rape and sexual misconduct to other alarming accusations.

His Florida and California homes were raided in April by a Department of Homeland Security human trafficking task force.
