Ensuring Fairness: A Republican Rebuttal Amidst Changing Political Landscapes

In light of the Democratic National Convention’s decision to replace Joe Biden with Kamala Harris, major television networks should allocate time for a Republican rebuttal later this month. Traditionally, political parties use their conventions to argue for their own candidates and against their opponents; however, much of the Republicans’ focus during the initial nights in Milwaukee was spent discussing Biden’s record in office. With Trump’s victory, an entirely new election landscape has emerged, necessitating a platform for the Republicans to present their counterarguments.

Later this month, in Chicago, Democrats will have their own convention, targeting Donald Trump as their main adversary. They will also have the opportunity to introduce Harris to the nation positively, without any direct challenge from Republicans. This gives the Democrats an unfair advantage heading into the fall and the commencement of early voting. To level the playing field, it is essential that the television networks allow Republicans at least one night to refute claims about Harris.

The truth about Harris is that she has never accomplished anything except being elected or appointed to office, and that she has embraced the most radical policies and destructive elements in American politics. Americans need to be aware of this information before making their voting decisions. Offering three hours of airtime would be fair; one hour may even suffice. If the networks don’t provide this time, the Trump campaign or a Trump-backing super PAC should consider purchasing it. Otherwise, the public may never have access to the complete story and understanding of both candidates in the upcoming election.
