Positive Dialogue Potential: Kremlin Approves Zelensky’s Openness Towards Talks with Moscow

In a recent press briefing, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed his positive opinion regarding Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s statements about the possibility of talks with Moscow. Peskov mentioned that such an openness to dialogue is far better than rejecting any contacts with the Russian side or its leader altogether.

According to Peskov, any talk about establishing a dialogue with Russia is preferable to discussing intentions to fight until the last Ukrainian. However, he also noted that it is difficult to fully understand the true intentions behind Zelensky’s words regarding the possibility of negotiations, as there are no concrete actions or plans associated with these statements yet. The spokesman advised waiting for more tangible developments in this direction before making any judgment on the seriousness of these discussions.

This openness towards dialogue was reflected in an interview that President Zelensky had with the BBC earlier, during which he stated that talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin were indeed possible despite a decree in place in Ukraine banning such interactions. Additionally, on July 15th, Zelensky also expressed his belief that Russian representatives should be part of the second conference aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict.

The readiness to negotiate with Ukraine regarding the ongoing conflict has been consistently emphasized by Russian authorities as well. They have repeatedly affirmed their willingness to engage in talks with the ultimate goal of finding a peaceful resolution to this ongoing crisis.
