Navarro Fights for Accountability at RNC: Trump’s America vs Political Persecution

Former economic adviser to President Donald Trump, Peter Navarro, recently addressed the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, discussing the next Trump administration’s plans to punish corrupt Democrats for abusing their power to target the opposition. Navarro spoke at the convention shortly after his release from federal prison in Miami, Florida. His speech touched on economic themes such as the inflationary cost of President Joe Biden’s policies and how he received a “MAGA” tattoo during his imprisonment.

Navarro focused on restoring the rule of law by holding those who had turned him, and others, into political prisoners accountable. He recounted how Obama-appointed Judge Amit P. Mehta sentenced him to prison after a Department of Justice that had previously declined to prosecute corrupt Democrats for contempt of Congress did so at the behest of a Democratic House of Representatives and the one-sided January 6 Committee, before which he refused to testify. Navarro emphasized his resilience during this time, stating, “They jailed me. Guess what. They did not break me,” to applause from the audience.

He continued by discussing how politics often leads to investigations and prosecutions of political rivals, citing examples of Catholic individuals, pro-life activists, and parents targeted for speaking up at school board meetings. Navarro’s speech highlighted the stark contrast between Trump’s America and the current state of the country, emphasizing the safety, security, prosperity, and freedom experienced during Trump’s tenure as president.

He expressed his determination to hold those responsible for turning him into a political prisoner accountable, stating that “I went to prison so you won’t have to.” Navarro concluded his speech by calling on the audience to vote for Trump in the upcoming election, asserting that America will hold these “Lawfare jackals” accountable on Election Day. The crowd enthusiastically chanted phrases such as “Fight! Fight! Fight!” and “We got this!” during Navarro’s speech.
