White House Stands Firm: Trump Still a ‘Threat to Democracy’ Despite Assassination Attempt

The White House is continuing its anti-Trump messaging, labeling former President Donald Trump as a “threat to democracy” despite the recent assassination attempt on him. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did not signal any change in messaging during her press conference on Monday. When asked about how to bring down the temperature while maintaining this message, Jean-Pierre emphasized that it is important to speak to someone’s record and character. She also stated that they will denounce violence, adding that political violence has no place in America. Despite the assassination attempt, Jean-Pierre refused to say if corrupt Democrats would abandon their narrative of Trump being a threat to democracy.

Her comments align with those made by President Joe Biden earlier on Monday, who told NBC News that Trump “has engaged” in rhetoric that could trigger unbalanced people but denied that he has done so despite continually saying that Trump is a threat to democracy. Jean-Pierre’s remarks came less than 48 hours after the attempted assassination of Trump, who attributed his survival to “God alone.

The news coincides with Republicans formally nominating Trump as the Republican nominee for president on Monday and him announcing J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his running mate.
