Cindy’s Survivor’s Guilt: Model Mourns Brother’s Death

Cindy Crawford, a renowned supermodel from the ’80s and ’90s, has recently opened up about her childhood and the hardships her family faced during her younger brother’s illness.

In an interview with Ms.

Corrigan and co-host Christy Turlington Burns, Crawford shared her feelings of survivor’s guilt that lingered for many years.

During Jeffrey’s illness, the Crawford family had to rely on extended family members for support as Cindy’s mother focused on caring for her sick child while her father worked to provide financially.

The strain of Jeffrey’s condition took a toll on the family and ultimately led to her parents’ divorce after his passing.

Crawford recalls how her mother, just 26 years old at the time of her son’s death, found the strength to carry on for the sake of her remaining children.

The model admits that she did not fully comprehend the gravity of Jeffrey’s illness and the emotional toll it took on her family until later in life.

Throughout her childhood and into adulthood, Crawford experienced feelings of survivor’s guilt that were difficult to reconcile.

However, during a coaching workshop she attended during the COVID-19 pandemic, she was able to uncover and address these lingering emotions.

By asking her mother to express her happiness at Cindy’s existence and acknowledging their shared grief over Jeffrey’s loss, Crawford finally found closure in this traumatic chapter of her life.
