Iran’s New President Vows Commitment to Peace in Ukraine, Strengthens Ties with Russia and China

Dubai, July 12 – In a recent op-ed for the Tehran Times, Iran’s newly elected President, Masoud Pezeshkian, expressed his administration’s commitment to actively support initiatives aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine. The Iranian president-elect emphasized the importance of maintaining close ties with Russia and expanding cooperation with China.

Russia is a valued strategic ally and neighbor to Iran,” Pezeshkian wrote, “and my administration will remain committed to expanding and enhancing our cooperation.” He also highlighted his government’s stance on fostering peace for the people of Russia and Ukraine, stressing their readiness to support initiatives aimed at achieving that goal.

Additionally, the Iranian president-elect confirmed his intentions to strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties with Russia by participating in various international frameworks, such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Economic Union. These partnerships are essential for promoting peace and stability in the region.

Pezeshkian also expressed Iran’s gratitude towards China and Russia for their unwavering support during difficult times. The 25-year roadmap with China represents a significant milestone towards establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership that aims to benefit both countries. This partnership has the potential to contribute significantly to a new global order.

The Iranian president-elect’s victory in the runoff presidential election on July 5, where he garnered 53.6% of the vote against conservative candidate Saeed Jalili (who received 44.3%) signifies his commitment to reformist policies and international cooperation. Masoud Pezeshkian is expected to take the oath of office on July 30, marking a new era in Iran’s diplomatic relations with key players in the region.
