Eliminating DEI: Rep. Cloud’s Push Against Critical Race Theory in Government

The Dismantle DEI Act, proposed by Rep. Michael Cloud (R-TX), aims to eliminate the practice of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in government institutions by terminating DEI offices throughout every single agency within the federal government. During an appearance on Breitbart News Daily, Cloud explained that DEI efforts are not what they appear to be, as they often involve Critical Race Theory (CRT) practices, which prioritize race over merit and character when it comes to decision-making.

The proposed act seeks to eliminate these practices by rescinding DEI-related executive orders and closing DEI offices across various agencies. It also prohibits federal funding for any DEI activities and ensures equal treatment for all individuals within the government sector. Furthermore, the Dismantle DEI Act addresses the issue of forced DEI practices on contractors working with the federal government.

During the interview, Cloud highlighted an example of a CIA recruitment ad that showcased a Hispanic woman with anxiety disorder proudly discussing her achievements within the organization. However, it was noted that her office displayed various awards for promoting diversity and inclusion, which contradicts the merit-based values that she claimed to have earned her position through.

Cloud emphasized that DEI practices can be demotivating in many ways, leading to issues with recruitment as young people are less inclined to support a “woke” Department of Defense. At present, Cloud is working on garnering sponsorships for the bill, and it has received support from senators such as J.D. Vance (R-OH), who is heading up the Senate version of the act. The representatives hope that this proposed legislation could be signed into law by former President Donald Trump if he were to run for office again.
