Michigan Senate Race Tightens: Private Polls Reveal Trump Leading Biden; Democrats Anxious Over Party’s Future

Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), who is running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan, recently told donors that private polling shows former President Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden in the Wolverine State. During a video call with donors obtained by the New York Times, Slotkin revealed that current President Biden is lagging behind Trump in all their polling data, making this Senate race a tight contest. The Michigan Senate Democrat candidate also appeared to take a jab at President Biden by sarcastically noting that she was running for the open Michigan Senate seat only because Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), aged 74, is doing something “radical” and passing on the torch.

Slotkin’s spokesperson did not comment on her statements. According to the New York Times report.

Ms. Slotkin is expected to face off against Mike Rogers, a Republican former congressman who has emerged as his party’s leading contender for the Senate seat. An average of public polls in Michigan from FiveThirtyEight shows a tossup in the presidential race in Michigan, while several recent polls indicate Ms. Slotkin with a slight advantage.

With Democrats growing increasingly anxious over President Biden’s performance in the upcoming election, some have called for him to step aside as a candidate. Despite this pressure from within his own party and beyond, Mr. Biden has insisted he will remain in the race, refusing to be deterred by leftist panic.

The unease extends beyond Michigan, with one Democrat official claiming that New York has become a “battleground state.” Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine (D) said, “We’re still acting like this is a one-party state, which for pretty much 20, 25 years it has been. I truly believe we’re a battleground state now.

With the election fast approaching, political tensions continue to rise as candidates and their supporters navigate an increasingly uncertain electoral landscape.
