Unscripted Biden: Campaign Event Interrupted Amid Growing Cognitive Concerns

President Joe Biden’s campaign event at the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) headquarters was abruptly cut off on Wednesday, after the president snatched the mic and rambled about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI. The incident took place amid concerns about Biden’s political viability following his infamous debate performance.

During the campaign pitch, President Biden slurred his words many times while discussing “giving people a fighting chance” in his economy with soaring inflation. He told the audience, “Not a joke,” as they applauded him. He then mentioned that he had limited time to speak before his next scheduled event with NATO leaders and emphasized the importance of union labor in ensuring America’s position as a global leader.

After the union leader mentioned diversity in Biden’s cabinet, the president grabbed the mic. I promised I would have a cabinet that would look like America,” he said. More minorities, more women, more labor.” He then handed the microphone back to the union official standing next to him.

The abrupt ending of the video feed raised concerns about Biden’s cognitive abilities. Special Counsel Robert Hur had previously described him as an “elderly man with a poor memory,” and the Wall Street Journal reported that he struggles to participate in unscripted donor events, often being helped by aides who remind him of information.

A CBS News/YouGov poll conducted in July found that 72% of registered voters believe Biden does not have the “mental” and “cognitive health” to serve as president, a significant increase from pre-debate numbers. Additionally, President Biden suffers from atrial fibrillation, peripheral neuropathy in his feet, and hyperlipidemia, which may explain his struggles with walking and balance.

In an effort to minimize attention on his physical ailments, Biden has implemented various strategies, such as walking to and from Marine One with multiple aides and boarding Air Force One using the shorter steps at the rear of the aircraft instead of the taller staircase at the front. He also wears specially crafted sports shoes to aid in walking, which is a common wardrobe change for elderly individuals.
