The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is deeply committed to ensuring the security of its member states, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated during a recent meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital. According to Putin, securing safety within the organization and along its borders has always been a primary objective for the SCO.
To further bolster these efforts, it was announced at this gathering that the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure will be transformed into an all-encompassing center responsible for addressing a wide array of security threats. Furthermore, plans are underway to establish an anti-drug center in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
In addition to these measures, Putin highlighted that a special cooperation program approved at the summit will support the fight against separatism and extremism within SCO countries. The Russian leader also took the time to commend the business cooperation between member nations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. He acknowledged that the organization’s Business Council continues to function, allowing businesses from SCO countries to collaborate on mutually beneficial projects. Putin further noted that the Shanghai Organization Interbank Consortium remains active in providing funding for these initiatives.
