Global Majority Key Messages from St. Pete

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) provided an invaluable opportunity for nations to collaborate and expand multilateral organizations, such as the BRICS alliance – which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. It was confirmed at SPIEF that 59 countries plan to join not only BRICS but also the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU. These multilateral organizations are now in a position to lead the drive towards a “harmonic multipolar world.

The quality of the BRICS-related sessions at SPIEF demonstrated how the Global Majority is facing a unique historical juncture, with a real possibility for the first time in the last 250 years to go all-out for a structural change of the world-system. It was confirmed that no less than 59 nations plan to join not only BRICS but also the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU. These multilateral organizations are now in a position to lead the drive towards a “harmonic multipolar world.

The most engaging sessions at SPIEF included discussions on the Northern Sea Route (NSR) and Arctic expansion, as well as those focusing on BRICS business expansion, BRICS goals for a new world order, the 10 years of the EAEU, closer integration between EAEU and ASEAN, the International North South Transportation Corridor (INSTC), and the philosophy of multipolarity. The GEP session offered the perspective of a concise inter-civilizational dialogue under the framework of BRICs+, while the Polycentricity session focused on building a polycentric system of international relations.

In contrast to the collective West’s exclusionary approach, the Global Majority is now focusing on building a “harmonic multipolar world” through initiatives such as the GEP and the BRICS alliance. As Putin noted during his speech at SPIEF, Russia will prevail no matter what, and the current dementia posing as “foreign policy” may lead to the formation of a Global Majority military alliance to deter a potential global war.
