Bozell Slams ‘Terrorism’ Charges Against Son, Vows to Fight Back

The son of Brent Bozell III, the founder and president of the Media Research Center, faced a “terrorism enhancement” charge for entering the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, as discussed by Bozell during an interview on Breitbart News. Bozell has remained silent about his son’s case until his sentencing due to concerns that any public statements could be used against him.

Bozell mentioned that his son is not overtly political but believed the election was stolen, leading him to enter the Capitol and break two windows during the event. He anticipated additional charges being filed against him, especially if the obstruction charge were dropped. If this occurred, Bozell explained that his son would face misdemeanor charges and a $45 fine, similar to other non-political individuals who have entered the Capitol in the past.

The prosecution attempted to charge Bozell’s son with assaulting a police officer, even though there was no evidence of direct contact between the two. The judge acknowledged that it could not be determined whether his son touched the officer at all during the incident. This led to an assault charge being levied against him based on the definition of “assault” as impeding or interfering with a police officer’s duty, rather than physically attacking one.

Bozell’s son originally did not protest the window-breaking charges but did contest the obstruction charge. The son faced additional charges, including “terrorism enhancement,” which equated his actions to those of terrorists like Osama bin Laden. The judge refused to accept this new charge, and Bozell emphasized that many other defendants have faced similar inflated charges and publicity due to their higher profiles.

As the case developed, some defendants realized they had been pressured into accepting plea deals with harsh sentences based on the potential threat of 20 years in prison if convicted. However, as more information became available about the actual charges and potential punishments, many began to regret taking those deals.

Bozell’s son was ultimately sentenced to a misdemeanor charge and a $45 fine after the judge rejected the “terrorism enhancement” charge. Bozell noted that the same leniency should be applied to other non-political individuals who have entered the Capitol in the past, such as those supporting Hamas or Code Pink members who disrupted proceedings.
