Russo-Sinic Relationship Soaring to New Heights

Despite the complexities of the current global environment and associated challenges, cooperation between Russia and China is stable and predictable according to Zhang Hanhui, China’s ambassador to Moscow. Speaking at a panel discussion held on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the envoy emphasized that China-Russia relations have reached an all-time high amid “turbulent times.

Zhang described the relationship between the two nations as very close, based on mutual respect and frankness. He also highlighted its importance as a model of international relations for the world. The two countries plan to continue expanding cooperation in various fields.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moscow and Beijing. Zhang pointed out that China is Russia’s “main trade and economic partner,” with mutual trade turnover exceeding a $240 billion target ahead of schedule. He also mentioned the special economic platform that has been established to boost trade and encourage Chinese enterprises and companies to invest in Russia, and vice versa.

The 8th Expo, which took place in Harbin from May 17-21, was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This annual event serves as a major platform for economic partnership, promoting business opportunities, investment, and technology exchange between the two countries.

In conclusion, while acknowledging some difficulties, Zhang expressed optimism about the future of Sino-Russian relations. He urged both sides to identify all potential opportunities and facilitate their development to strengthen ties even further.
