Kim Yo Jong Accuses South Korea’s Military over Pyongyang UAV Flights; North Orders Artillery Units on Full Alert

SEOUL, October 15 – In recent developments concerning inter-Korean relations, North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, has claimed that the South Korean military is responsible for the flights of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) over Pyongyang. This accusation was reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), citing credible intelligence on rogue South Korean military actors as the main instigators behind the hostile act of provocation.

Kim Yo Jong issued a stern warning, stating that the individuals involved in this act will face severe consequences. The North Korean Foreign Ministry further emphasized its stance by releasing an official statement on October 11, alleging that South Korean drones had entered Pyongyang’s airspace three times to drop leaflets into the city.

In response to these actions, Pyongyang demanded that Seoul cease and desist from such activities. The North Korean government has also ordered its artillery units along the border to remain on full alert, escalating tensions between the two Koreas even further.

The South Korean military initially denied having flown drones into North Korean territory but did not dismiss the possibility that private entities or individuals might have been responsible. However, as the situation developed, Seoul found itself unable to confirm nor deny North Korea’s claims regarding their involvement in the UAV flights over Pyongyang.

As diplomatic relations between the two Koreas remain strained, it is crucial for both sides to maintain open lines of communication and engage in dialogue to de-escalate tensions and avoid any unintended incidents that could potentially lead to a larger conflict in the region.
