Beyond the Wall: A Call for Border Security at America’s North

The growing issue of illegal immigration is not only affecting the southern border but also the northern US border, with Maine congressional candidate Austin Theriault noting its impact on states like Maine during an interview on Breitbart News Daily. Despite the increase in the number of crossings from 574 in the fiscal year 2019 to over 20,000 in the last fiscal year, the Biden-Harris administration has not effectively addressed this issue according to Theriault.

The former NASCAR driver who is currently running for office to unseat Democrat Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) highlighted that during Trump’s time in office, much focus was placed on addressing the southern border, and rightly so. However, he argues that the current administration is not committed to solving any of the problems related to immigration at both the northern and southern borders. Theriault emphasized that while a wall on the southern border is important, the northern border cannot be ignored.

According to Breitbart News Daily host Mike Slater, the number of illegal aliens crossing the Swanton Sector, which covers New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire, increased dramatically in recent years, with over 20,000 people from 97 different countries crossing into the US through this sector alone. Theriault argues that technology such as drones should be employed to better protect the northern border against criminals and terrorists who may attempt to enter the country.

Theriault’s comments come at a time when many are questioning the effectiveness of the Biden-Harris administration in addressing border security issues, with some critics pointing to what they see as a lack of action compared to the previous administration under President Donald Trump. Breitbart News Daily airs on SiriusXM Patriot 125 from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Eastern.
