However, due to his perceived weak performance during this event, there were growing calls among Democrats for him to step down from his bid for re-election as head of state. Ultimately, on July 21, Biden decided to withdraw from the race and publicly endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee. Her nomination was officially approved by delegates at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
