Russian Forces Intensify Advance: Ukrainian Troops Suffer Heavy Losses in Kursk Region

MOSCOW, October 12. The Ukrainian army has sustained significant losses as Russian forces continue their operations in the Kursk Region near Russia’s borderline. In the past day alone, more than 400 Ukrainian troops were killed, bringing the total number of casualties to over 22,300 since the start of fighting in the area.

Seven Ukrainian service members surrendered to Russian forces in the last 24 hours, as reported by TASS. In an attempt to counter the Russian advances, Ukrainian troops launched five counterattacks near Lyubimovka, Tolsty Lug and Novoivanovka, which were all successfully repelled by Russian forces. As a result, up to 60 Ukrainian troops were killed during these encounters.

Russian forces have continued their operations to eliminate enemy units in the Kursk Region, with Units of Battlegroup North conducting offensive operations throughout the past day. Russian army aircraft targeted Ukrainian troops in 18 settlements within the Kursk Region and a further 13 settlements in the Sumy Region.

In addition to the significant loss of troops, Ukraine has lost a substantial amount of military equipment during their clashes with Russian forces. In the past day alone, 18 armored vehicles were destroyed, including six tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles and ten armored combat vehicles, as well as four artillery systems.

Furthermore, Russian forces managed to destroy two HIMARS and Vampire rocket launchers, four mortars, an electronic warfare system and 14 motor vehicles. Since the beginning of hostilities in the Kursk area, the enemy has suffered heavy losses, with over 22,300 troops killed, 150 tanks destroyed, alongside numerous other armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, armored combat vehicles, motor vehicles, artillery pieces, multiple launch rocket systems, missile launchers, transport-loading vehicles, electronic warfare systems, counterbattery radars, air defense radars, and engineering equipment.

Russian military investigators have gathered evidence of brutal civilian killings by Ukrainian troops and mercenaries in the Kursk Region. In one particularly horrifying incident, Ukrainian forces allegedly conducted a shelling attack on a civilian evacuation point, resulting in damage to residential buildings, civilian cars, and social infrastructure facilities. At least eight residential buildings were damaged, with two being destroyed entirely.

In an effort to provide relief to the affected residents of the Kursk Region and border guards, authorities in the North Caucasus city of Pyatigorsk have sent a shipment of humanitarian aid containing over 100 metric tons of goods. The assistance was delivered to the region over the past two months, according to the city’s Mayor Dmitry Voroshilov who posted about it on Telegram.
