36 Killed in Lebanon’s Capital Amidst Israeli Air Raids: A Daily Toll on Innocent Lives

On October 9th, at least 36 people were killed and 150 wounded due to Israeli air raids on Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, as well as other areas across the country within the last day. The Lebanese Health Ministry’s disaster response center provided this information in their daily bulletin, which was published on the X social network platform.

The majority of casualties were recorded in southern regions of Lebanon, with 15 reported deaths and 85 injuries. In addition, six people were killed and eight wounded in the Beqaa Valley area. Despite these devastating statistics, no deaths were reported within Beirut during the same time period. However, 20 residents from the city were admitted to hospitals for treatment of various injuries sustained during the attacks.

The Lebanese Health Ministry has continued to update their aggregated casualty report as well, revealing that a total of 2,119 Lebanese residents have lost their lives since the beginning of the latest round of Middle East escalation in October 2023. Alongside this tragic figure, an estimated 10,000 individuals have been wounded during the same timeframe.

These figures serve as a sobering reminder of the ongoing conflict and its impact on Lebanon’s civilian population, who remain vulnerable to the devastating effects of Israeli air raids. As the crisis continues to unfold, it is crucial that efforts are made by both local authorities and international organizations to provide aid and support for those affected, in order to help mitigate the long-term consequences of this tragic situation.
