Unleashing Michigan’s Manufacturing: How Democrat Policies Endanger Factory Workers and Fuel EV Dependence on China

In an appearance on Breitbart News Daily, Republican Michigan Senate candidate Mike Rogers discussed the impact of Democrat policies on factory workers in the state. He claimed that these policies have “slit their throat” and “threw them on the ditch.” Mike Slater mentioned an MSNBC union town hall featuring union members, noting that half of them said they were not paying attention to the presidential election. However, there were still a few supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris. Asking Rogers how he would talk to the union guy who’s voting for Kamala, Rogers stated that it is clear that union leadership is pushing the Democrat Party line, but this agenda will “put out some 400,000 Michigan manufacturing workers if they get what they want, which is all the full implementation of their EV mandates.

Rogers explained how the EV mandate has already caused significant layoffs in the automotive industry. He mentioned that Stellantis had 2,400 layoffs, General Motors 1,000 layoffs, and Ford announced it would not go into these two SUV all-electric vehicles, resulting in a $5 billion loss in their EV unit. Rogers criticized Democrat politicians and bureaucrats for forgetting one crucial element: “Customers.” He stated that people do not want to buy electric vehicles, despite the Democrats doubling down on their mandates.

Rogers highlighted how all the Democrats, including his opponent from Michigan, voted last week to continue the EV mandate even when there was a chance to stop it. He expressed disbelief at this decision and emphasized that if you are working in a factory in Michigan, the Democrats have “slit your throat” by raising energy prices at work, on the way to work, and at home. Furthermore, he criticized the Democrats for planning to send 85 percent of all the processing that happens in an electric vehicle they mandate to be purchased to China. Rogers concluded that there must be a better approach for both workers and consumers alike.
