Trump Slams ‘Hit Job’ Unsealed Motion by DOJ: Aiming for Political Power

Former President Donald Trump has criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ) for unsealing a motion from Special Counsel Jack Smith regarding his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. Trump described the unsealed motion as a “hit job” and claimed that Democrats were weaponizing the DOJ against him due to their fear of his popularity.

Trump’s post on Truth Social came after Judge Chutkan unsealed a redacted 165-page motion filed by Smith, which highlighted alleged efforts by Trump and his allies to subvert the election results, according to Axios. In another post on Truth Social, Trump called the filing falsehood-ridden and unconstitutional, adding that it was released after Ohio Sen. JD Vance’s humiliating performance against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz during their vice presidential debate.

Trump further claimed that the release of this motion is another obvious attempt by the Democrats to undermine and weaponize American democracy and interfere in the 2024 presidential election. He accused Smith, a handpicked prosecutor for the DOJ, of being hell-bent on continuing to weaponize the Justice Department in an attempt to cling to power.

Additionally, Trump claimed that the Democrat Party is guilty of the worst election interference in American history by allowing millions of people into the country illegally and attempting to destroy democracy. However, he remains confident that his supporters will succeed in saving the nation and restoring its greatness.
