Debunking the Myth: Kamala Harris’s Steady Stand on Migration Policies

The Axios article has been factually misrepresented by many media outlets and even some establishment sources, as it claims that Vice President Kamala Harris is moving towards the center on immigration policies and embracing a tougher stance on border security during her current election campaign. However, the news site offered little evidence to back up this claim, except for the refusal of Harris’s aides to reaffirm her prior radical statements.

Contrary to Axios’s claims, Vice President Kamala Harris has repeatedly stated her support for the wealth-shifting immigration expansion bill that administration officials and senators drafted in February 2024. This is evidenced by her speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), where she pledged to bring back the bipartisan border security bill that was killed before, sign it into law, and create an earned pathway to citizenship (a euphemism for amnesty) for millions of illegal immigrants in the United States.

The February 2024 bill is designed to appear tough and centrist while maximizing migration through hidden loopholes in border law. The bill’s provisions are very unpopular, with 56% of registered voters favoring a policy of arresting and deporting thousands of illegal immigrants. Former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), criticized the Harris platform for wanting more amnesty and migration.

Many other establishment outlets have also echoed the no-evidence claim that Harris will be “tough” on migration. However, pro-migration advocates believe that her policies will likely align with those of pro-migration groups such as LaRaza. In conclusion, the Axios article’s claims regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’s stance on immigration and border security are not backed by substantial evidence and should be considered misleading.
