New Hostage Deal Proposal: A Fresh Approach to Settling Israel-Hamas Conflict

In recent developments concerning the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, a new hostage deal proposal has emerged from Israeli officials. The proposed agreement demands that all 101 remaining hostages be released without condition, as well as an end to Hamas’ rule in Gaza. In exchange for these terms, Hamas leaders will be granted safe passage out of the territory and potentially the release of some Palestinian terror convicts.

This new deal comes after months of unsuccessful negotiations over an American-backed proposal that would have seen the hostages released in stages. Israel reluctantly accepted this initial plan, which did not guarantee the freedom of all hostages and remained vague on whether or not Hamas would be fully disarmed or removed from Gaza.

The Kan public broadcaster reported that the Israeli government has proposed a new framework for a deal with Hamas. This proposal includes the simultaneous release of all hostages, an end to the fighting in the Gaza Strip, and safe passage out of the territory for Yahya Sinwar and his associates. Additionally, it is suggested that Palestinian prisoners jailed in Israel would be released, the area demilitarized, and a new system of governance established for Gaza.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum has expressed support for this new plan, which has been opposed to the Israeli government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In a statement, the forum called the proposed one-shot deal the “wish of all Israeli citizens” and the families of the hostages, as it strengthens security in Israel and makes comprehensive regional settlement possible.

The author of this article has long argued that the only viable solution in these circumstances would involve convincing Hamas’ leadership to prioritize their own individual safety over maintaining control of the Gaza Strip. By presenting a deal with clear benefits for the leaders, it is hoped that a resolution can be reached that ensures the release of all remaining hostages and brings an end to the ongoing conflict.
