Millions Unaccounted: Got-Aways Ignored at the Southern Border

Former Border Patrol Chief Aaron Heitke revealed during a House Homeland Security hearing that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, lacks any information on nearly two million undetected “got-aways” who have successfully crossed the southern border. This staggering number represents individuals who managed to evade Border Patrol agents during their illicit entry into the United States.

Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY) inquired about the information available on these millions of got-aways, to which Heitke responded that there is “none.” D’Esposito further emphasized the alarming situation by mentioning some of these undocumented individuals have been found on the Terror Watch List. Despite this concerning revelation, Heitke confirmed the absence of any data on such people.

The House Judiciary Committee reported that almost two million illegal alien got-aways have successfully crossed the southern border during Biden and Harris’s tenure. These successful evasions of Border Patrol agents have raised significant concerns, particularly as several cases involving criminal acts committed by these individuals garner national attention.

For instance, an undetected MS-13 gang member was accused of brutally raping and beating to death a mother of five children in Maryland last August. The heinous nature of this crime has led it to be considered the most horrific one in Maryland’s history. In another case, an alleged got-away from Mexico is now facing negligent homicide charges for causing the death of a 48-year-old woman in Arkansas. Furthermore, in July of this year, an undetected individual was charged with criminal homicide for the death of a Nashville, Tennessee restaurateur.

These incidents emphasize the need to better understand and address the issue of got-aways crossing the southern border, as well as their potential involvement in criminal activity. The lack of information on this group of individuals raises questions about how they managed to evade detection by Border Patrol agents, and what measures are being taken to ensure public safety.
