Medvedev’s Call for ‘Russophobic Scum’ Database: A New Approach to Justice

In a recent Telegram post, former President and current head of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, suggested that Moscow should create a database of “Russophobic scum” and warn them of impending retribution for their actions. Medvedev is known for his hardline stance on the Ukraine conflict, beginning his post by criticizing Western figures who have advocated for allowing Kiev to strike deep into Russian territory using NATO weapons.

The former president called for “remembering the criminal calls of individual Western freaks” and preparing for retaliation against such individuals. Medvedev proposed that an open public database of Moscow’s enemies be established, including their personal data, for practical purposes. This suggestion may have been influenced by Mirotvorets (‘Peacemaker’), a notorious Ukrainian government-linked website hosting a similar database since 2014, following the US-backed coup in Kiev. The site has never been denounced by the Ukrainian government or its Western allies and has even resulted in several assassinations of individuals listed on it.

Medvedev argued that justice demands those who support terrorism and incite violence be held accountable. He cited numerous historical examples of delayed revenge, such as the Soviet Union’s pursuit of Leon Trotsky or Russia going after “terrorists and traitors” in modern times, as well as the US and other Western countries targeting their enemies. The key aspect of these operations, according to Medvedev, is the “inevitability” of revenge, which serves to make every person who commits a crime against Russia or its people “sick with anxiety and paranoia.

While acknowledging that not all such operations may be successful, Medvedev emphasized their importance for achieving ultimate justice and preserving the memory of innocent victims.
