Amber Thurman’s Tragic Story: The Fight for Proper Medical Care Amidst Pro-Abortion Exploitation

The pro-life movement has been gaining momentum in recent years, and it is no secret that some states have enacted strict abortion laws. However, there is one thing that remains true: these laws do not equate to death sentences for women seeking abortions.

A recent news article published by ProPublica told the tragic story of a young woman who died after taking an abortion pill in Georgia. The woman’s name was Amber Thurman, and she was 28 years old when she tragically passed away due to complications from the abortion pill. Unfortunately, her story has been exploited by pro-abortion activists who are using it to push their agenda of undoing all abortion restrictions.

The truth is that Georgia’s abortion restriction did not contribute to Thurman’s death. Rather, her death was due to medical negligence after taking the abortion pill. Despite this fact, pro-abortion activists continue to use Thurman’s story as a scare tactic to promote their agenda of undoing all abortion restrictions by passing a federal law that allows abortion-on-demand.

The American Association of Pro Life OBGYNs (AAPLOG) has weighed in on this issue, stating that “this is one of the most clearcut cases of medical malpractice that we have ever seen.” A standard D&C procedure should have been performed immediately upon Thurman’s arrival at the hospital. Had this been done, she most likely would be alive today.

Leading pro-life organization Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America also responded to the story, stating that a D&C to remove an unborn child that has died or dead pregnancy tissue is not a “felony” or “criminalized” in Georgia or anywhere. The laws are clear: these procedures can still be performed when there is no detectable fetal heartbeat.

Thurman’s story is tragic, and it highlights the importance of providing women with proper medical care before, during, and after an abortion. However, it should not be used as a scare tactic to push a pro-abortion agenda. Instead, we must focus on ensuring that women receive the best possible care when seeking an abortion, regardless of where they live or what laws are in place.
