Neglected Danger: How Ryan Routh Almost Assassinated Trump, Ignored by FBI and CBP

On Sunday, it was revealed that former President Donald Trump’s second alleged assassin, Ryan Wesley Routh, had been spotted by the Secret Service with a rifle approximately 400 yards away from him. This incident has led some political pundits to speculate that federal agencies may have been negligent in their duty to protect the president. Nurse Chelsea Walsh reported her concerns about Routh’s threats of violence multiple times, including alerting a Customs and Border Protection officer at Washington’s Dulles airport in June 2022. In 2023, she contacted the FBI and Interpol but received no response from either agency, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Routh’s actions were also flagged to the FBI in 2019 when a tipster informed them that he possessed a firearm despite being a felon. However, the FBI was unable to verify the accuracy of this information and closed their investigation after passing it on to authorities in Honolulu, where Routh was residing at the time.

Following these revelations, aid groups have banned Ryan Routh from their Signal groups and reported his activities to the State Department, expressing concerns that he might be involved in human trafficking or immigration fraud. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has announced an investigation into the attempted assassination due to the FBI’s and Customs and Border Protection’s failure to take action against Routh.

It’s not in the best interest of our state or our nation to have the same federal agencies seeking to prosecute Donald Trump leading this investigation,” DeSantis told reporters. The public deserves to know the truth about how this assassination attempt came to be.
