Former President Donald Trump, who survived a second assassination attempt within two months, made some startling comments during his Monday night X Space discussion. There’s something going on, perhaps it’s God,” the former president said, reflecting on both incidents and suggesting that maybe divine intervention is guiding him to become president again in order to save the country.
Recounting the first assassination attempt against him, Trump said that he made a right turn at an event, and a bullet whizzed by his head. It was a narrow escape, with the bullet just grazing his ear. The second incident occurred recently when wannabe assassin Ryan Wesley Routh was caught hiding in bushes near Trump International Golf Course.
According to Trump, Secret Service agents who travel ahead of him while he is golfing encountered Routh before he could fire any rounds at the 45th president. A Secret Service agent reportedly spotted a barrel of an AK-47 and started firing into the bushes, where the potential assassin was hiding. The other suspect never got off a shot and fled across the street to his vehicle.
A civilian witness who saw something suspicious followed Routh in her car and took photos of the license plate, which she then gave to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Within a short period, they were able to track him down on the highway and apprehend him.
This is the second X Space Trump has participated in; his first was on August 12th, when he joined an unscripted interview with X owner and tech mogul Elon Musk.
