21 Fakes vs 1: The Kamala-Trump Debate Dilemma

In contrast to CNN Senior Reporter Daniel Dale’s claim that Vice President Kamala Harris delivered only one false statement during a debate on ABC News, Breitbart News’s Alana Mastrangelo alleges that the Vice President made at least 21 false statements and hoaxes. Some of these include the “very fine people” hoax, Project 2025 hoax, false claims about Trump’s trade deficit, attributing Putin’s actions to a potential “dictator on day one,” blaming botched Afghanistan withdrawal on Trump, and numerous other falsehoods.

Dale claimed that the only false statement made by Harris was her assertion that former President Donald Trump left the Biden-Harris administration with the worst employment since the Great Depression. However, this was not accurate, as Breitbart News’ Alana Mastrangelo pointed out. The unemployment rate in January 2020, when the Biden-Harris administration took office, was already improving from its early pandemic peak and was at a level seen during the last economic downturn, rather than decades earlier.

Interestingly, ABC News debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis appeared to be more critical of Trump’s statements, fact-checking him at least seven times but never doing so with Harris. This perceived one-sidedness in the “fact-checking” process led Breitbart News’s Joel Pollak to analyze this further.

In conclusion, while CNN Senior Reporter Daniel Dale claims that Vice President Kamala Harris delivered only one false statement during a debate on ABC News, Breitbart News’s Alana Mastrangelo alleges that the Vice President made at least 21 false statements and hoaxes. Despite this, the debate moderators appeared to focus more on fact-checking former President Donald Trump rather than challenging Harris’s claims.
