Avoidance Tactics: Walz & Harris’ Unwillingness to Answer Inflation Questions

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) recently avoided answering a question regarding his administration’s plans to lower prices amid rising inflation. The clip, shared by Trump War Room, shows the governor seated among a crowd of people when he is asked about how he and Vice President Kamala Harris plan to address increasing prices. Instead of responding directly, Governor Walz chose not to answer, a move seemingly supported by his handlers, as indicated in the video.

This instance highlights a concerning trend where both Harris and Walz seem unwilling to answer questions that are not pre-scripted or prepared in advance. During her one and only sit-down interview since becoming Vice President, when questioned about Bidenomics and efforts to lower prices, Harris largely deflected the topic. CNN’s Dana Bash asked, “You have been Vice President for three-and-a-half years. The steps that you’re talking about now, why haven’t you done them already.

Harris responded by claiming that first and foremost, the economy needed to recover before any actions could be taken: “Well, first of all, we had to recover as an economy, and we have done that.” However, a fact-check by Breitbart News revealed that this assertion was untrue. In reality, the American economy had been recovering rapidly from the pandemic and lockdowns before Biden and Harris took office. Furthermore, despite this initial growth, both officials have continued to push for policies such as the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, which has significantly contributed to rising inflation rates.

When questioned about the success of Bidenomics, Harris again deflected but attempted to associate it with positive developments in various areas: “I maintain that when we do the work of bringing down prescription medication for the American people… That’s good work.” However, this response is seen as insufficient and does not adequately address the concerns raised about inflation and economic management.

Governor Walz’s decision to ignore a valid question follows a similar pattern set by Vice President Harris, who opted to wear earbuds while boarding her flight to Michigan earlier this week, effectively avoiding any interactions with the media. As a result, it appears that both officials are unwilling or unable to provide clear and direct answers about their strategies for tackling rising prices and managing inflation.
