Trump’s Edge: Battleground State Lead in Recent Polls

Former President Donald Trump continues to lead Vice President Kamala Harris in crucial battleground states, according to recent polls. A recent On Point/Red Eagle Politics/SoCal Strategies poll reveals that Trump has a four percentage point advantage over Harris in the swing state of North Carolina. The survey, which includes 612 likely North Carolina voters, presented them with two options: voting for Trump or Harris.

Out of those who participated in the poll, 50% chose Trump as their preferred candidate, leaving Harris trailing behind at 46% support. Another 5% of respondents remain undecided. This latest poll follows a previous survey taken between August 26-27, 2024, which did not seem to benefit Harris despite the Democratic Party’s convention in Chicago. Furthermore, this new data was gathered after Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s withdrawal from the race and his endorsement of Trump.

The North Carolina poll also asked respondents about their opinions on which presidential candidate they believe would better handle the economy – a significant issue heading into the election as Americans grapple with soaring inflation rates. In this instance, 49% of North Carolina respondents chose Trump to be more effective at managing the economy, compared to 42% who favored Harris. A further 9% remained undecided on this matter.

The poll results in North Carolina are consistent with other battleground state surveys that reveal Trump maintaining a lead over Harris. For example, a Noble Predictive Insights poll conducted between August 12-15 surveyed 1,003 registered Arizona voters and found Trump leading by three percentage points (47% to 44. In Pennsylvania, another key swing state, a recent On Point/Red Eagle Politics/SoCal Strategies poll revealed that Trump had a slim one percentage point lead over Harris (48% to 47. These latest polls demonstrate that Trump continues to hold an advantage in critical battleground states leading up to the election.
