Silent Morning: Media Ignores Trump’s Tribute to Fallen Troops at Arlington National Cemetery

Former President Donald Trump recently paid his respects to the 13 U.S. troops who were killed three years ago during the withdrawal from Afghanistan under current President Joe Biden’s administration. On August 26, 2024, a suicide bomber affiliated with ISIS attacked Kabul’s airport, killing 13 American service members and injuring dozens more, while also murdering approximately 170 local civilians who were attempting to flee the country.

In an act of remembrance and solidarity, Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery, where he placed a wreath alongside Marine Corporal Kelsee Lainhart, who was left partially paralyzed by the tragic event. The president’s gesture came as a sharp contrast to the morning news shows on ABC, CBS, and NBC, which chose not to acknowledge the anniversary of this horrific incident.

According to NewsBusters.com, these major networks ignored the three-year anniversary in their Monday morning broadcasts.

Monday marked three years since the deadly Islamic terror attack in Kabul, Afghanistan at Hamid Karzai International Airport that murdered 13 American soldiers, 170 Afghans, and left over 150 people wounded. Instead of even briefly acknowledging this painful day for American families in what became the symbol of the Biden-Harris’s administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, ABC, CBS, and NBC completely ignored it on their flagship morning news shows.

Despite the significance of the event and its impact on the lives of the affected families, neither ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS Mornings, nor NBC’s Today made any mention of the sacrifice displayed by the American troops who were killed or injured at Abbey Gate. The networks appeared to have followed in the footsteps of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who both remained silent on the matter.

In stark contrast to their mainstream counterparts, cable news shows such as Fox Business Network’s Mornings with Maria, Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends, Newsmax’s Wake Up America, NewsNation’s Morning in America, and even CNN News Central all acknowledged the anniversary multiple times during their broadcasts.

Neither President Biden nor Vice President Kamala Harris visited Arlington National Cemetery to pay their respects alongside Trump; however, both released statements commemorating the event. As a nation, it is crucial that we remember and honor those who have sacrificed their lives for our country, regardless of political affiliations or differences in opinion. By acknowledging and discussing events such as these, we are able to foster a sense of unity and gratitude towards the brave men and women who serve and protect us every day.
