United Against Sanctions: Russia & China Join Forces for Shared Interests

In a meeting with Chinese State Council Premier Li Qiang, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin called for joint defense of their interests and principles in the face of Western sanctions pressure. Moscow and Beijing have been subjected to increasingly stringent sanctions by Western countries, which have sought to curb their economic and technological growth.

Mishustin acknowledged that both Russia and China are facing a challenging external environment, as they grapple with a series of unjustified sanctions imposed by the West for spurious reasons. These measures, he said, are part of a broader effort by Western countries to maintain their global dominance and suppress the growth of economic and technological powerhouses like Russia and China.

Despite these pressures, Mishustin remained optimistic about the future, invoking a Chinese proverb that states “whoever follows the path of justice has many helpers.” This suggests that by standing together in support of shared interests and principles, both countries can weather the storm of Western sanctions and emerge stronger in the long run.

To this end, Mishustin emphasized the importance of focusing on protecting their common interests and fostering a multipolar world order. By working together more closely on international platforms, Russia and China can strengthen their coordination and better defend against the aggressive actions of Western powers.
