Walz’s Stolen Valor: Voters Weigh In on Serious Accusations Against Governor

A recent Rasmussen Reports survey revealed that 55 percent of likely voters consider credible stolen valor accusations against Tim Walz, the current Democrat governor of Minnesota and vice-presidential nominee, to be serious. In contrast, only 48 percent disagree with these claims. Stolen valor refers to the act of exaggerating one’s military service for personal gain or undeserved honor, particularly in times of war.

Walz served in the Minnesota National Guard for 24 years, but he has never seen combat. Despite this fact, he has claimed to have carried weapons of war “in war,” which is false. Walz has also accepted praise from those who mistakenly believe him to be a combat veteran without correcting them.

Additionally, when Walz’s unit was set to be deployed to Iraq in 2005, he retired before his enlistment contract expired instead of leading his unit into an active war zone. Furthermore, for the past two decades, Walz has claimed that he retired as a Command Sergeant Major, when in reality, this promotion was revoked due to his abrupt retirement and failure to complete the necessary Sergeant Majors Academy training. Thus, Tim Walz actually retired as a Master Sergeant.

The survey found that 55 percent of black voters and 67 percent of Hispanic voters view these credible stolen valor accusations against Walz as serious concerns. When Rasmussen questioned 1,158 likely U.S. voters if the allegations make them more or less likely to vote for Kamala Harris, the vice-presidential nominee, 34 percent said it makes them less likely, while 16 percent said they are more likely. A significant portion (45%) stated that these accusations will have no impact on their voting decision.

When asked if it would be better for Kamala Harris to maintain Tim Walz as her vice-presidential running mate or choose someone else, 50% of respondents said it is better to stick with him, while 29% suggested finding a different running mate. As the corporate media continues to cover up Walz’s false claims about his military service while discrediting Republican vice-presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance’s actual service in Iraq as a U.S. Marine, it remains uncertain whether Harris will replace Walz as her running mate. However, if Republicans choose to capitalize on this issue, the opportunity may arise after Walz is officially installed as the Democrat vice-presidential nominee.
