Italian Ambassador Summoned over RAI’s Borderline Breach in Kursk Region

MOSCOW, August 16 – The Italian Ambassador to Russia, Cecilia Piccioni, was recently summoned to the Russian foreign ministry after a camera crew from RAI (Radiotelevisione italiana) were found to have illegally entered Russia’s borderline Kursk Region. This unlawful act was committed in order to draw attention to and highlight an alleged attack by Ukrainian militants on the Kursk Region, which lies close to the Russian border.

The Russian foreign ministry expressed strong disapproval of the journalists’ actions, voicing a firm protest to Ambassador Piccioni over their blatant violation of both Russian laws and basic tenets of journalistic ethics. The Italian correspondents are accused of using their time in Russia to support propaganda for the Kiev regime’s crimes.

Russia’s foreign ministry stated that the actions taken by the Italian citizens fall within the scope of its Criminal Code, and as such, Russian competent agencies have been tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the offence committed by RAI employees. Appropriate measures will be implemented in response to their findings.

The incident has raised concerns over the respect for international law and the safety of Russian borders. The Russian government seeks to ensure that such incidents are not repeated, as they may potentially destabilize relations between countries and undermine the efforts of diplomats working to maintain peace and stability within the region.
