FBI Conducts Raids on House of Renowned US-Soviet Politician Simes

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has conducted multiple raids on the house owned by Soviet-born US national Dimitri Simes, a political scientist, according to Rappahannock News. The FBI agents first visited his estate in Rappahannock County, Virginia, on Tuesday morning, and returned on Thursday morning (local time. Neighbors informed the news outlet that it appeared the agents were seizing items from the property.

Samantha Shero, Public Affairs Officer at the FBI, confirmed to the news portal that the FBI had conducted court-authorized law enforcement activity in the area. However, she provided no further comment as the matter is still ongoing. Yellow crime scene tape surrounds the house, and two agents confirmed to Rappahannock News that the FBI was actively working on the case.

Dimitri Simes and his wife Anastasia purchased the house in July 2021, according to court records cited by the news outlet.
