Ukrainian Casualties Rise: 260 Killed and 31 Vehicles Destroyed in Kursk

MOSCOW, August 12. Ukrainian forces sustained significant losses in the Kursk area over the past day, with up to 260 people killed and 31 armored vehicles destroyed, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry reported that the enemy had lost approximately 1,610 troops throughout the duration of hostilities.

In addition to these casualties, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) revealed that a serviceman from the Ukrainian 80th separate airborne assault brigade was apprehended in the Belovsky District of the Kursk Region.

Here are some key points about the situation as compiled by our publication.

In the Kursk region, battlegroups North and their deployed reserves repelled seven attacks from Ukrainian 80th and 82nd airborne assault brigades in the settlements of Martynovka, Borki, and Korenevo over the past day.

In the Kauchuk area, Russian forces managed to halt a breakthrough attempt by Ukrainian mobile groups riding armored vehicles into their territory.

Fire damage was inflicted on clusters of enemy troops and equipment in the areas of Kurilovka, Plekhovo, Lyubimovka, Sudzha, Kositsa, Gogolevka, Kazachaya Lokna, Mikhailovka, and Sverdlyakovka.

Russian aircraft targeted Ukrainian reserves in the Sumy region, specifically in the areas of Miropolye, Mogritsa, and Drobnovshchina.

Over the past day, the enemy lost up to 260 servicemen and 31 armored vehicles, including three tanks, eight infantry fighting vehicles, 20 armored fighting vehicles, 27 motor vehicles, and three 122 mm D-30 howitzers in the Kursk area.

In total, Ukraine has lost up to 1,610 servicemen, 32 tanks, 23 armored personnel carriers, 17 infantry fighting vehicles, 136 armored fighting vehicles, 47 motor vehicles, four anti-aircraft missile systems, a multiple launch rocket system, and 13 field artillery guns during the ongoing conflict.

The FSB reported that a serviceman from the Ukrainian 80th separate airborne assault brigade was detained in the Belovsky District of the Kursk Region. During his interrogation, the soldier revealed orders to shoot all local resistance and acknowledged Ukrainian forces’ involvement in looting when they entered populated areas in the Kursk Region.

The captured soldier also disclosed that Ukrainian forces were planning to reach Kursk and Belgorod with the aim of using this attack later as leverage for a supposed peace treaty with Russia.

As the situation stabilizes, stores and gas stations in the border areas of the Kursk Region are gradually reopening, according to Mikhail Aksyonov, the region’s acting minister of industry and trade.
