Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has recently been campaigning with the slogan “mind your own damn business,” referring to abortion rights, however, his actions during the coronavirus pandemic reveal a different stance. Walz, who identifies socialism as “neighborliness”, implemented a “snitch” line in order to report neighbors violating his draconian stay-at-home orders, abusing his “emergency” powers.
Even more shocking, the hotline was kept operational until June 2022, with no explanation given for its continuation. Walz’s actions were highly criticized as reminiscent of East German Stasi agents, encouraging residents to turn in their neighbors for breaking COVID restrictions. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted the difference between how Florida treated people and how Minnesota treated people during the same period.
DeSantis questioned Walz’s decision to set up a snitch hotline, describing it as government overreach rather than minding one’s own business. He also pointed out that Walz imposed vaccine mandates on state employees, potentially infringing upon constitutional rights to privacy.
