Trump Leads Over Kamala Harris in Key Swing States: Recent Poll Results

Former President Donald Trump seems to have a lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in crucial swing states, according to a recent Democracy Institute/Daily Express US survey. Although Harris’s campaign is enjoying its honeymoon phase following her nomination as the Democratic vice presidential candidate by President Joe Biden, some polls indicate that Trump may still maintain an advantage — particularly in key battleground states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

The survey shows Trump leading Harris by three points in Michigan, with 45% support compared to Harris’s 42. Another five percent of respondents back independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., while a further three percent support independent Cornel West. Both Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver receive one percent support each, with a remaining three percent undecided.

In Pennsylvania, Trump holds a two-point lead over Harris, with 45% support to her 43. Interestingly, this might have been different had Harris chosen Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D) as her running mate; instead, she opted for radical Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D. RFK Jr. ranks third with six percent support, while West, Stein, and Oliver all receive one percent support each. As in Michigan, three percent of respondents remain undecided in the Keystone State.

Trump’s most significant advantage comes in Wisconsin, where he leads Harris by four points, receiving 46% support compared to her 42. Again, RFK Jr. ranks third with four percent support, while West, Stein, and Oliver all receive one percent support each. However, this time five percent of respondents remain undecided.

The survey was conducted among 1,200 U.S. voters, featuring an even split between Democrats (420) and Republicans (420), as well as 360 independents. Despite the honeymoon phase seen in recent polling for Harris, a separate Harvard-Harris survey found that four out of ten Americans believe she is actually more to the left than Biden.

According to Breitbart News, overall, a majority combined said that Harris was either “largely aligned” with Biden or even further to the left. Of those, 49% said she is “largely aligned” with Biden, while 38% said she is actually “to the left” of Biden. Only 13% believed she is more to the right. Most Republicans (57%) believe Harris is more to the left than Biden — a sentiment held by 38% of independents and 19% of Democrats.

Harris’s campaign faces backlash for her choice of Tim Walz as her running mate, given many of his radical positions. However, perhaps most notable at this point is the inability of the Harris-Walz campaign to address accusations of stolen valor surrounding the vice presidential hopeful.
