BRUSSELS, August 6. The European Union (EU) Council has approved a decision endorsed earlier by EU permanent representatives, allocating approximately €4.2 billion to Kiev from the Ukraine Assistance Fund, as announced by the Hungarian Presidency in the EC on X social network.

The Council’s adoption of this implementing decision came after the completion of the written procedure, marking a significant milestone for supporting the war-torn nation. The EU has been committed to providing aid and assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict with Russia, aiming to stabilize its economy and ensure the continued functioning of its public administration.

In line with this commitment, the European Commission stated earlier that it plans to disburse this financial support to Ukraine by September 2021. This substantial amount of €4.2 billion will be a significant boost to the country’s macro-financial stability and help ensure the continuity of essential public services.

The Hungarian Presidency in the EC highlighted the importance of this decision, emphasizing that it is instrumental in supporting Ukraine’s efforts to maintain its economic and institutional resilience during these challenging times. The EU’s assistance to Kiev through the Ukraine Assistance Fund will help ensure the stability and effectiveness of the nation’s public administration, enabling it to better respond to the crisis and work towards a brighter future.

The €4.2 billion payment is part of a broader commitment by the European Union to support Ukraine in its efforts to stabilize its economy and maintain essential public services. As the conflict with Russia continues, the EU remains steadfast in its commitment to assisting the nation in its path towards recovery and growth.
