Texas Woman Faces Charges for Allegedly Threatening Former President Trump in DC

A woman from San Antonio, Texas, was arrested in Washington, DC, on Friday for allegedly threatening former President Donald Trump. The arrest came after a gunman attempted to assassinate him during a rally on July 13. According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), the suspect, identified as Christina Montoya, traveled to the nation’s capital where police found an unlicensed firearm and a magazine in her possession. However, Trump was reportedly in the Hamptons to meet with donors on the day of Montoya’s arrest.

The type of threats she allegedly made against Trump remains unclear. The KENS 5 article states that MPD arrested Montoya less than a mile from Capitol Hill and about three miles from the White House, where she had an unlicensed firearm and a magazine on her at the time, authorities say.

Following the assassination attempt during his outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump credited God for his survival while speaking at another rally in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, according to Breitbart News. He described the Secret Service agents who protected him when Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire, calling them “brave.

During the shooting, a bullet pierced the upper part of Trump’s ear, leaving his face bloody. Crooks was shot and killed by Secret Service officers at the scene. The attack marked the most serious attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981.

Christina Montoya faces charges of possessing an unregistered firearm, carrying a pistol without a license, and threats against a former president. Donald Trump is listed as a victim on the latter charge.
